INTRODUCTION

The vulvar filler or vaginal filler, although it is anatomically more correct to call it in the first way, consisting of hyaluronic acid, is indicated for improving the appearance of the labia majora, the mons veneres and atrophic and/or depressed scars post episiotomy or post caesarean section . Hyaluronic acid allows you to restore and improve tissues, restoring hydration and youth to the area, or vaginal puffing and narrowing the vaginal canal; a real rejuvenation of the female genitals.

The vulvar filler involves the use of a series of injections, made via cannula, of specific and biocompatible hyaluronic acid in the female intimate areas. This procedure offers an effective non-surgical and non-pharmacological solution to restore the volume and tone of the affected area, improving its appearance overall and addressing some aspects linked to many situations that can appear during a woman's life and to meet the he need of some women to feel more confident and attractive in their intimate life.

Today, more than 20 million women are affected by uterine prolapse, birth injuries and incontinence.

Although the vulvar filler has been popularized thanks to several Hollywood celebrities, among whom it is very popular, more and more women who do not belong to the world of show biz are undergoing it, and who have gained aesthetic improvements from it that have helped them live their sexuality more peacefully.

FOR WHO?

Indicated for:

  • Women in menopause (i.e. the definitive disappearance of the menstrual cycle dictated by the exhaustion of ovarian activity) or pre-menopause

  • Natural aging of the vulva

  • Accidental traumatic damage, from surgery or childbirth (e.g. scars from episiotomy, the incision to facilitate the exit of the baby or laxity of the vaginal orifice)

  • Effects of hormone-suppressing medical treatments such as chemotherapy.

  • Blemishes of the vulva: improve the proportions between the labia majora and minora (e.g. improving the appearance of labia minora that are too voluminous or protruding)

Although this type of procedure may seem at first glance to be a mere "Hollywood gimmick", it must be considered that even the female genitals, like the rest of our body, change their appearance as the years pass. For some women, this could cause discomfort both in terms of self-esteem and in their relationship life. Not only that, vulva filler is also considered an aid in resolving discomfort related to a woman's life.

The purpose, therefore, is not only aesthetic but also corrective-functional.

WHY RESORT TO A VULVA COSMETIC TREATMENT?

During menopause, women go through a significant hormonal change.

Menopause is the period in a woman's life when the production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries ceases.

This leads to several changes in the body. Hormonal fluctuations first appear, before menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels may fluctuate, causing symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and menstrual cycle irregularities.

During and after menopause, however, estrogen levels decrease dramatically. This causes a range of symptoms, including vaginal dryness, loss of bone density (osteoporosis), changes in mood, reduced libido and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Post-menopausal female genital changes are a normal result of hormonal changes and physical changes that occur in a woman's body.

These can include:

  • Vaginal dryness: which can lead to discomfort during sexual intercourse or an increased risk of vaginal infections.

  • Vaginal atrophy: i.e. a thinning and weakening of the vaginal tissues. This can lead to more serious symptoms such as pain during sexual intercourse or discomfort such as itching and burning.

  • Loss of elasticity: causes a sensation of reduced "firmness" or vaginal tension

  • Changes in lubrication: the production of cervical mucus and the natural lubrication of the vagina decrease after menopause, making sexual intercourse less comfortable, embarrassment with your partner and lower self-esteem towards yourself

THE PROCEDURE:

The vulvar filler is a gel based on hyaluronic acid, specifically designed to have a density suitable for the genitals. The fillers used on the genitals are exclusively absorbable (there are no permanent fillers for the vulvar area).

The treatment, in general, lasts for a period ranging from six months to a year, depending on the type of gel used, its chemical characteristics and the type of skin and the style and lifestyle habits of those who undergo it. .

The vulvar filler has a relatively rapid execution which requires, depending on the case, times ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia or without anesthesia.

Normally, there are 2 sessions required to achieve visible and satisfactory results, which are spread over one to two months depending on needs.

After having a vaginal filler, there are some precautions and precautions to follow, such as avoiding having sexual intercourse for about a week, abstaining from activities that may involve pressure on the vulvar area (such as, for example, cycling or horse riding, wearing comfortable, undyed underwear made of natural fibers and not to shave for a week.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

After the use of injectable fillers, as in other parts of the body, it is common to observe a slight swelling which tends to disappear within a few days (usually 2-3 days).

This phenomenon is more common in the vaginal area given its normal characteristic of hydration of the mucosa.

Other complications are ecchymosis or small hematomas, which can vary in intensity and duration (usually 7 days).

Sometimes small accumulations of product may form in the treated areas, but in most cases these resolve spontaneously. In reality, thanks to the use of the cannula rather than the needle, these are less frequent.

Rarely, bacterial infections or hypersensitivity reactions may occur which can be treated and resolved with targeted antibiotic therapy.

For this reason it is advisable to turn to professionals experienced in injecting genital areas (penis and vulva).
